The following letter was received by the IETF Secretariat: April 9, 1999 Re: Possible patents pending Claim on ECDSA This is to advise the IETF that Certicom believes it has patents pending that relate to ECDSA, namely point compression, public key validation (including domain parameter validation), and computational techniques. In accordance with the intellectual property rights procedures of the IETF standards process, assuming the relevant patents are granted, Certicom is willing to offer, upon written requests from the implementers of the ECDSA, a non-exclusive license under reasonable and non-discriminatory terms and conditions, providing the applicant provides a similar grant for the applicant's relevant patents (if any) and respects Certicom's other intellectual property. Any party wishing to request a license should contact: Bruce MacInnis Director of Licensing Certicom Corporation 200 Matheson Blvd. West Mississauga, Ontario Canada L5R 3L7 Tel: 905-501-3821 Fax: 905-507-1239 bmacinnis@certicom.com /signed/ Phillip C.
